How do I become a contractor?

  • In order to become a contractor, you must own or be able to acquire a 26 foot box straight truck with a lift gate, pass an interview with the director of operations for that location, and complete our qualification process. Experience in appliances, furniture and/or in-home delivery is a major plus.

 

What are the requirements?

  • Interview with the director of operations

  • $1,000,000 Insurance Certificate*

  • Workman’s Compensation Insurance*

  • Annual Inspection with stamped receipt of payment for inspection

  • Registration

  • Identification and Social Security Number for Driver and Helper

  • If contracting with a business name, you need a Tax Identification Number and Certificate of Formation

  • Drug Test and Physical for the Driver

  • Police Reports for any accidents within the last 3 years.

  • Criminal Background Check


* Please note that Home Delivery America (H.D.A) must be listed as the certificate holder and as additional insured for your Commercial Auto and Workman’s Compensation policies.

Do I have to have a truck?

  • Yes, in order to become a contractor you must own or finance/lease a truck. We do not hire drivers. Delivery contractors primarily use a 24 or 26 foot box truck with a lift gate.

What insurance do I need?

  • All contractors are required to carry $1 MIL combined single limit commercial auto policy as well as Workers Compensation.

Where can I get this insurance?

  • Any broker licensed to sell insurance in your state will be able to help you obtain your insurance.

How often will I work?

  • The amount of time that you work will depend upon the work available from our clients. We do not guarantee any amount of work.

How much can I earn?

  • There is a high earning potential as a contractor. Specific commission rates will be discussed during the interview.

Do I need a helper?

  • All contractors are required to have a delivery team composed of a driver and a helper. All members of the delivery team will have to pass a background check,

Are there any overnight loads?

  • There are no overnight loads. You will be back home every night.

  • We can operate in any metropolitan area in the continental United States. Start up times will vary depending upon the different service options requested.
